PURCHASE, N.Y. – Following the conclusion of their stellar seasons on the ice,
William Billequey (Montreal, Quebec/Vermont Lumberjacks (EHL)),
Nicholas Rogers (Broad Channel, N.Y./Danbury Jr. Hat Tricks (NA3HL)) and
Corey Popowcer (Parkland, Fla./Vermont Lumberjacks (EHL)) of the Manhattanville University men's hockey team have been recognized by the United Collegiate Hockey Conference (UCHC) as All-Conference selections, the conference announced on Wednesday morning. Billequey was named UCHC Co-Goaltender of the Year and selected to First Team All-UCHC, while Popowcer and Rogers represent the Valiants on the Second Team.
Billequey is the first Valiant named First Team All-UCHC since the 2018-19 season and is just the second player ever in program history to be named conference Goaltender of the Year, the first since Jay Chrapala was selected ECAC West Conference Goalie of the Year in 2002-03. The three All-Conference selections are also the most Manhattanville has had in a single season since 2018-19.
Billequey put up one of the best seasons in recent memory as the Valiants' primary netminder in the 2024-25 season. After making just four appearances in net last year as a freshman, the sophomore ranked amongst the top goalies in the UCHC, finishing second in the conference with a .930 save percentage. Billequey's save percentage is tied for the highest single-season mark in program history alongside Alex Scola in the 2012-13. He finished the year with 508 saves and a 2.56 goals-against average, both ranking in the top four in the conference. On Jan. 25, Billequey earned the first shutout of his college career with a 37-save performance against SUNY Brockport. He allowed two or fewer goals in eight of his appearances on the season and was selected four times as the UCHC Goaltender of the Week.
Rogers finished the year as the conference's leading goal scorer, lighting the lamp 18 times en route to his first All-Conference nod of his career. The sophomore's goal total is tied for the seventh-most in a single season in program history as Rogers quickly developed into a top-tier scoring threat his second season on the Playland ice. Rogers had six multipoint games during the season and scored multiple goals in three contests. On Jan. 14, he earned the first hat trick of his career with three goals in a win over Connecticut College, one of three games where he scored the game-winner. He added deciding goals against SUNY Brockport on Nov. 9 and Nazareth on Nov. 22.
Popowcer rounds out the three first-time All-Conference honorees after finishing as one of Manhattanville's leading defenders. The junior was the only defenseman to play all 27 games this year while finishing fifth on the team in scoring with 18 points on five goals and 13 assists. His games played, goals, assists and point totals all marked new career-highs as Popowcer demonstrated himself as a playmaker on both ends of the ice. In addition to his involvement in the scoring, Popowcer blocked 23 shots, matching his career-high set a season ago.
