Men's Soccer Secures Second Conference Win

PURCHASE, N.Y. – The Manhattanville University men's soccer team delivered a sharp, disciplined performance to earn a 2–0 victory over Mount Saint Mary College (NY) on Saturday afternoon in Newburgh N.Y. A pair of goals—one in each half—combined with a strong defensive effort powered the Valiants to their second Skyline Conference win.

Manhattanville opened the scoring in the 41st minute when Nico Del Vescovo (Flanders, N.J./Mount Olive) buried a low strike to the left side of the net, finishing a build-up that generated from Lucas Fernandez (Stamford, Conn./Stamford) and Jacob Mazza (Center Moriches, N.Y./Center Moriches). The goal rewarded a first half in which the Valiants controlled possession and peppered the Mount Saint Mary backline with shots, including a crossbar hit from Manuel Morales (Madrid, Spain/International College Spain) and multiple saves forced from Knights goalkeeper Noah Horn.

The Valiants continued to press after halftime and doubled their lead in the 75th minute. Aiden Sivio (Staten Island, N.Y./Monsignor Farrell), who led the team with shots on goal with two, delivered the insurance goal, ripping a high finish off a clever assist from Morales. Manhattanville's attack kept Mount Saint Mary pinned back for much of the half, generating six corner kicks throughout the game and a flurry of chances despite strong goalkeeping from Horn, outshooting the Knights 14-8 with shots and 7-4 with shots on goal.

On the other end, goalkeeper AJ Lucas (Beacon, N.Y./Beacon) anchored a resilient Manhattanville defense, making several key stops late to preserve the clean sheet. The Valiants back line held firm against a late Knights push that included multiple free kicks and corners in the closing minutes.

With the win, Manhattanville improves its Skyline record to 2-0-1 and continues to build momentum behind a balanced offensive attack and steady defensive play.

The Valiants return to the pitch Tuesday, September 30th at 7 PM, facing United States Merchant Marine Academy at GoValiants.com Field.
