Valiants Fall 4-0 on the Road Against Stevens

Hoboken, N.J. – The Manhattanville University men's soccer team fought hard but fell 4–0 on the road to Stevens Institute of Technology Friday evening.

The Ducks applied early pressure, forcing goalkeeper AJ Lucas (Beacon, N.Y./Beacon) into action with several strong saves to keep the match scoreless through the opening 25 minutes. Lucas denied efforts from Max Rokhsar, Joey Bucchere, and Emerson Kekesi before Stevens finally broke through in the 26th minute. Rokhsar converted on a high strike to the right side off assists from Thomas Smith and Omar Martinez, giving the hosts a 1–0 advantage.

The Valiants responded with a short stretch of chances before halftime. Roberto Velasquez-Osorio (Monticello, N.Y./Monticello) and Manuel Morales (Madrid, Spain/International College Spain) both tested the Ducks' defense, with Morales forcing a stop from Stevens goalkeeper Sebastian Montoulieu in the closing minute of the first half. Despite the late push, Manhattanville entered the break trailing by one.

Stevens extended its lead shortly after halftime, scoring twice, just minutes apart. Martinez doubled the advantage in the 52nd minute, and Rokhsar added his second goal less than two minutes later. A penalty goal from Ben Goldberg in the 73rd minute pushed the margin to 4–0.

Despite the deficit, Manhattanville continued to press forward. Nico Del Vescovo (Flanders, N.J./Mount Olive) and Alec Pineda (Yonkers, N.Y./Port Chester) each recorded late attempts on target, but Montoulieu and the Ducks' defense held firm to preserve the shutout.

Stevens finished with 16 shots, nine on goal, and Manhattanville trailing with six shots, two of which were on goal. Lucas posted five saves in net for the Valiants, while Montoulieu finished with two. The Ducks earned two corner kicks, while fouls were even at 11 apiece.
