LePage Lifts Two in Loss to WestConn

PURCHASE, N.Y. – Senior Lulu LePage (Swansea, Mass./Elmira College) lifted her first two collegiate goals in the loss against Western Connecticut on Tuesday evening at GoValiants.com field.

The Valiants (0-4) are still looking to enter the win collum, and the Wolves sit at 3-1.


FIRST HALF

Q1 – Western Connecticut State 2, Manhattanville 0

Manhattanville drew three corners and ripped off two shots to begin the contest.

W. Connecticut grabbed its first two goals of the game from penalty corners— goals scored by Reagan Schoen and Vanesa Dominguez.

Q2 – Western Connecticut State 3, Manhattanville 0

The Wolves scored its third of the night from a scramble in front of the cage, where McKinley Soto was able to knock in the pass from Schoen.


SECOND HALF

Q3 – Western Connecticut State 3, Manhattanville 1

The Valiants' first goal of the night was deflected in by LePage around the keeper off a hard hit ball from junior Fiona Doherty (Clarkstown, N.Y./Clarkstown South) at the top of the circle.

Q4 – Western Connecticut State 4, Manhattanville 2

LePage scored her second of the night from the top right of the circle with a lifted ball to the back of the cage.

W.Conn scored its game-securing goal on a corner from Schoen to Grace Gundeck for a hard shot through the defense.


Game Notes

  • Junior keeper, Hannah Doherty (Clarkstown, N.Y./Clarkstown South) , posted five saves during the game.
  • The Wolves outshot the Valiants 17-12
  • The 0-4 start to the 2025 campaign ties the 2024 campaign start for most losing to begin a season since the 2022 season.
  • Eight Valiants contributed to the 12 shots on goal. Tied for the most in a single game since before the 2021 season, the last occasion coming against Drew University on Sept. 2.

Up Next – Manhattanville (0-4) wraps up the opening homestand on Monday, Sept. 15, at 6 PM against the University of Saint Joseph (3-1).
