Women's Basketball Extends Skyline Winning Streak Against Old Westbury

PURCHASE, N.Y. – The Manhattanville University women's basketball team improved upon its' historic start to conference play, remaining unblemished in Skyline action with an 81-24 win against Old Westbury on Tuesday night. The Valiants improve to 11-3 overall and 9-0 in conference play, while the Panthers fall to 2-9 (1-8).

A total of 12 Valiants stepped foot on the floor in the win, with 11 recording a field goal. Madison Carlo (Carmel, N.Y./Kennedy Catholic) led with 16 points off the bench, her most since putting up 20 against Medgar Evers on Nov. 12. Carlo shot 60 percent from the floor and was 4-for-8 from beyond the arc. Kathleen O'Mara (Huntington, N.Y./Walt Whitman), Esther Ramos (Queens, N.Y./Forest Hills) and Gabby Tucker (Port Chester, N.Y./Blind Brook) all reached double figures as part of the starting lineup, with the former scoring 12 after being named an MBWA Honorable Mention for her performances the week prior and the latter two putting forth a pair of 10-point games.

Ramos finished with a team-leading eight rebounds, while O'Mara came down with seven caroms. O'Mara had another well-rounded effort, adding five assists, four steals and a block to her stat line. Tucker, Amanda Orlando (Putnam Valley, N.Y./Putnam Valley) and Maia Velazquez (Queens, N.Y./Christ the King) joined in on the assist party by matching O'Mara's total.

The Valiants shot .547 in the contest, the team's highest mark in a game since the Valiants shot .569 in 2024 against Old Westbury. After hitting 45 percent of their shots in the first half, Manhattanville shot the lights out in the third quarter at a 75 percent mark, putting up 34 points.

Manhattanville rolled out to a 10-0 lead and never looked back. Old Westbury did not hit its first field goal until 12 minutes into the contest, at which point the Valiants led 31-6. The Valiant lead continued to build with eight unanswered points to close out the half up big, 47-13.

The Valiants played one of its most dominant quarters of the season, hitting 15 of 20 field goal tries for a 34 point frame. Manhattanville drilled 4-of-5 shots from deep and used a 13-0 run to push the lead up to 52 points. Carlo scored a team-leading nine points as part of the quarter that saw eight different Valiants get on the scoreboard.

With a shortage of available players, Old Westbury opted to forfeit the remainder of the contest following the conclusion of the third quarter.
