NEW YORK, N.Y. – For the first time in her career, sophomore
Kathleen O'Mara (Huntington, N.Y./Walt Whitman) of the Manhattanville University women's basketball team has been named Met Basketball Writers Association (MBWA) Division II/III Honorable Mention, for the week ending Jan. 11.
O'Mara is the second Valiant to earn the accolade this season after
Esther Ramos (Queens, N.Y./Forest Hills) nabbed MBWA nods closing out first half action of 2025 on Dec. 16.
O'Mara made an immediate impact in her first two starts of the season last week as the Valiants earned a pair of conference wins to improve to 8-0 in Skyline play, the best recorded start to a conference season in program history. The sophomore forward totaled 22 points, 24 rebounds, eight steals, six assists and five blocks as she was a presence all over the floor.
On Tuesday, O'Mara played 36 minutes and earned her first collegiate double-double with 12 points and a career-high 17 rebounds, adding five steals, three assists and two blocks. She followed that up on Saturday in the win over Saint Joseph's Long Island, scoring 10 points with seven boards, three blocks, three steals and three assists.
O'Mara and the Valiants return to play tonight, hosting Old Westbury at 6 p.m.
