Women's Ice Hockey Senior Day Celebration Fuels 8–0 Shutout of Hilbert

RYE, N.Y. — The Manhattanville women's ice hockey team returned to home ice with a commanding 8–0 victory over the Hawks of Hilbert College. The contest was highlighted by a hat trick from senior Katherine Stahl (Middletown, R.I./Middletown), along with goals from multiple contributors across the lineup. Prior to puck drop, Manhattanville honored four seniors for their final season, recognizing their lasting impact and contributions to the Valiants program.

The first senior recognized was Catrina Chinetti (Hyde Park, Mass./Boston Latin Academy / East Coast Wizards), who entered the contest having appeared in 96 career games for the Valiants, totaling 38 points on 26 goals and 12 assists. She recorded 10 points during her rookie season before improving offensively as a sophomore with 14 points on eight goals and six assists. Her impact continued to grow in 2024 with multi-goal performances against Lebanon Valley and Stevenson, and as a junior she scored the overtime game-winner against 12th-ranked Utica. In her senior season, Chinetti has remained a leader on and off the ice, skating in 17 games with goals against Bowdoin and Oswego, along with a two-goal performance against Hilbert College.

Next honored was Lillee Dougherty (Wakefield, R.I./Portsmouth Abbey School), who entered the match up with 92 career games played for Manhattanville. Over her career, she has recorded eight points on three goals and five assists. Dougherty earned her first collegiate point with an assist in her debut against King's College and later added assists against Arcadia. She scored her first career goal during a multi-point game against Stevenson and added two more goals during her junior season against Wesleyan and Chatham. This year, she has appeared in 18 games, winning 29 face offs and blocking nine shots.

The third senior recognized was Katherine Stahl (Middletown, R.I./Middletown), a four-year member of the Valiants who has appeared in 95 career games, totaling nine points on five goals and four assists. She began her collegiate career as a defender before transitioning to a more offensive role as a junior, where she scored five goals, added two assists, and recorded a pair of game-winning goals. This season, Stahl has continued to elevate her play offensively, skating in 17 games while registering 17 shots and blocking 15.

Rounding out the Senior Day honorees was Taylor Willoughby (Camrose, Alberta, Canada/Northern Alberta Extreme), who has appeared in 97 games over her four-year career, recording 19 points on four goals and 15 assists. After playing every game during her rookie season, she broke onto the score sheet as a sophomore with three goals and six assists, including her first collegiate goal against Connecticut College and a game-winner versus Lebanon Valley. Last season, Willoughby added eight points on one goal and seven assists, and entering today's contest had already recorded two assists against Nazareth and William Smith.

The Valiants opened the contest with a flurry of shots on the Hilbert College goaltender, applying sustained pressure in the Hawks' defensive zone and jumping out to a 10–3 advantage in shots. That pressure paid off early, as Stahl netted the game's first goal just under five minutes into play, marking her first goal of the season, after a sequence pass from Sophie Braverman (Minnetrista, Minn./Chanhassen / MN Ice Cougars Tier 1) and Molly Sances (Billerica, Mass./Billerica Memorial). Manhattanville continued to dictate the pace following the opening tally, stifling both the Hawks' offensive and defensive efforts. After Hilbert was whistled for a roughing penalty, the Valiants capitalized on the power play when Emilija Tučiūtė (Vilnius, Lithuania/Ontario Hockey Academy) and Jayden Wilder (Rochester, N.H./Lovell Academy) found Chinetti, and buried the puck to give Manhattanville a 2–0 lead heading into the first intermission.

Coming out of the break, Manhattanville showed no signs of letting up, extending the lead less than two minutes into the second period as Harper Weisbeck (Pittsford, N.Y./Pittsford Sutherland) scored off a feed from Colby Cantor (Norwell, Mass./North American Hockey Academy) and Tučiūtė. The Valiants continued to generate a barrage of shots in the Hawks' zone before pushing the advantage to 4–0 on an even-strength goal by Kayla Leonard (Marshfield, Mass./Marshfield High School) at 10:53. The goal marked Leonard's first collegiate tally with the assist from Sances and Danika Aubin (Guy, Alberta, Canada/Northern Alberta Xtreme (CSSHL)). Manhattanville's offense struck again less than a minute later, as Cantor scored off a pass from Ali Joly (Pickering, Ontario, Canada/Dunbarton / Caledon Coyotes), sending the Valiants into the final intermission with a commanding 5–0 lead.

Entering the third period, the Valiants maintained their momentum, skating with speed and physicality while creating numerous scoring opportunities. Their efforts were rewarded just under three minutes into the period when Stahl netted her second goal of the game off assists from Claire Hazard (Barnstable, Mass./Worcester Academy) and Chinetti. Both teams continued to battle, but Hilbert was consistently over matched by Manhattanville's offensive pressure. Stahl capped off a standout performance by recording her first collegiate hat trick with a goal at 14:51, assisted by Aubin.

Manhattanville controlled the remainder of the contest and closed out the scoring with less than three minutes remaining, as a feed from Jada Mackinnon (Barrington, Nova Scotia, Canada/King's Edgehill School) to Tučiūtė found the back of the net, marking her first collegiate goal and sealing an 8–0 victory in a dominant Senior Day performance.
