Field Hockey Celebrates Senior Day in Home Finale

PURCHASE, N.Y. – Manhattanville field hockey hosted SUNY Oneonta for the 2026 senior day celebration in the last home game of the season. The decision, 3-1, leaves the Valiants 5-10 while the Red Dragons improve to 8-6.

Before the start of today's game, we honored out seven graduating seniors. First to walk in the ceremony was Shannon Keena (Pearl River, N.Y./Pearl River). In her 63 games for the Valiants she has 13 goals and nine assists. Alyssa Damore (Pawling, N.Y./Pawling) was next making her 42nd start for the Valiants, she has been a staple of the defensive line during her 800+4 minutes.

Julia Huertas (Shirley, N.Y./William Floyd) made her way down the line next, with 54 starts and over 3,300 minutes on the field, Huertas has laid it all on the line for her defense becoming a staple through her four years. Fellow Captain, Sabina Cosmo (Harrison, N.Y./Harrison) was to follow. Becoming a starting aspect for the Valiants her freshman season, Cosmo has had a field-wide impact with five goals and 14 defensive saves.

The fifth senior to walk was Fiona Doherty (Clarkstown, N.Y./Clarkstown South). She has started in every game as a Valiant since her freshman season, she has 38 total points with 11 goals and 16 assists. During her senior season she recorded her first game-winning goal against Elms, finding ways to check off firsts all four years.

Keira Guinan (Seaford, N.Y./Seaford) followed. In her standout senior year, she has recorded 12 goals as well as sending out three assists. She has had two game-winners and two multigame outings this season.

The final senior to make her way down the line was none other than the back of the defensive line, Hannah Doherty (Clarkstown, N.Y./Clarkstown South). A three-year member of the Valiants, Doherty has made 41 starts and sits in the record book with ninth most saves in program history with 326.

Fiona Doherty (Clarkstown, N.Y./Clarkstown South) got things going for the Valiants after a series of corners. Huertas sent the ball out to Damore who ripped the ball into the circle, after Huertas received the ball around the diving goalkeeper to send it cross cage for Doherty to tip in for an early 1-0 lead.

After holding the lead for the first quarter, the visiting Red Dragons went on to tally a goal in each of the three remaining 15-minute outings.

Huertas recorded three defensive saves in her senior day, as Cosmo tallied on another to her impressive career number. Doherty finished out her final home game in the Valiants' goal with nine saves.
