How We Got Here
After missing the postseason a year ago, the Valiants were voted to be on the outside looking in again in the Preseason Coaches Poll, voted ninth. Manhattanville went ahead and proved the poll wrong by going 8-8 in Skyline play and 13-12 overall to clinch the six seed after winning three of their last four games.

Manhattanville carries four players scoring 10 or more points per game into the postseason. Andrew Saint-Louis (Norwalk, Conn./Notre Dame Fairfield) returned to the Valiants for his graduate season and leads the team with 14.2 points per game. Chris Robinson (Bedford-Stuyvesant, N.Y./Westminster School) and Isiah Middleton (Miami, Fla./Westminster Christian) have made immediate impacts in their first seasons with Manhattanville, both averaging 13.8 points per game, while John Ranaghan (Pearl River, N.Y./Pearl River) has scored 10.8 points per contest in his junior season.
The foursome have also been Manhattanville's leaders off the boards, with Middleton pacing the team with 7.3 rebounds per game. Both Robinson and Saint-Louis have dished out more than three assists per contest.

The Gryphons finished 12-4 in the Skyline (15-10 overall) to lock down the No. 3 seed. Sarah Lawrence opened conference play with a 9-1 record through its first ten games, but posted a 3-3 record in February.

Despite the cold spell, the Gryphons feature three of the conference's premiere players in Chris Dougherty, Eamon Kelly and Adrew Kim. Dougherty was named the Skyline's Defensive Player of the Year on Tuesday after leading the conference in blocks. The senior also pulled down 9.28 rebounds per game and will be a problem to keep off the glass, standing 6-foot-10.

Kelly and Kim are averaging 12.4 and 11.0 points per game, respectively. Both are shooting over 40 percent from the floor, with Kelly also shooting 40 percent from deep. The tandem also received All-Conference nods, both being voted to the Skyline Second Team.

Last Time Out
The teams split the regular season meetings, with the road team emerging victorious in both contests. Manhattanville defeated Sarah Lawrence last Wednesday, 61-52, holding the Gryphons to their fewest points since November. The Valiant defense was phenomenal in holding Sarah Lawrence in check, limiting the Gryphons to just a .309 shooting percentage.

Robinson and Andrew Melillo (Staten Island, N.Y./Monsignor Farrell) combined for 24 points to lead the Valiants in the win, while Dougherty, Kelly and Kim were limited to just 20 points combined. Sarah Lawrence went 6-of-27 from deep in the loss, as the Valiants will look to replicate the defensive success in order to advance to the semifinals.

Postseason History
This is the first postseason meeting between the two teams since 2020. The Valiants, making their first playoff appearance since the 2013-14 season, were defeated by the Gryphons 75-66 in the Skyline Quarterfinals matchup inside Kennedy Gymnasium.
