GLENSIDE, Pa. – The Manhattanville University women's lacrosse team concluded its three-game Spring Break road trip on Saturday afternoon, falling 17-3 at Arcadia University in the first meeting between the two programs in 12 years.
Manhattanville (1-4) got a pair of goals from
Kaci Pierce (Niantic, Conn./East Lyme) for the senior's third multi-goal game in the last four games. She was joined in the scoring column by
Ashley Glass (Mahopac, N.Y./Lakeland), with the sophomore reaching 10 goals with the tally, trailing only
Pietra Cabral's (Mineola, N.Y./Mineola) 12 on the season.
Maura Spruck (Hawthorne, N.Y./Westlake High School) made her first collegiate start in net, playing 41:19 in net. The freshman made 13 saves while allowing 15 goals, falling to 0-1 on her career. All three Valiant goalkeepers saw action in the game, with
Megan McDonald (Pearl River, N.Y./Pearl River) making two saves and allowing a pair of goals in 14:27 of game time while
Mary Kopf (Congers, N.Y./Clarkstown High School North) closed out the game with the final four-plus minutes, not facing a shot.
The Knights (6-0) scored twice in the opening 3:18 to take the lead before Pierce scored her sixth of the season with 7:15 left in the first quarter. Arcadia outshot the Valiants 15-2 over the frame, adding three more goals to the lead before the quarter drew to a close.
It was all Arcadia for the ensuing 30 minutes, scoring 11 unanswered goals to build up a 16-1 lead. The Knights added one more early in the fourth before the Valiants got back on the board, first with Glass netting a woman-up goal from Cabral with 6:48 left in the regulation before Pierce scored her second of the game 2:15 later, moving the score to its eventual 17-3 final.
In addition to her assist, Cabral led the way in the ground ball department alongside
Jocelyn Mazo (Mamaroneck, N.Y./Mamaroneck) with three apiece. Cabral also accounted for one of Manhattanville's four caused turnovers, with
Alexa Bennett (Sparrowbush, N.Y./Port Jervis) recording a team-high two while
Sydney Natale (Greenwich, Conn./Greenwich) added one.
Arcadia held a 16-5 draw control advantage. Mazo had three of the Valiants' draws, while Glass and
Molly Sances (Billerica, Mass./Billerica Memorial) finished with one each.

Spring break comes to a close, but the Valiants will remain on the road next week, traveling to Delaware Valley on Wednesday for a 4 p.m. start.
