Baseball Hits Eight Doubles in Sweep over John Jay

PURCHASE, N.Y. – Manhattanville baseball swept John Jay in the away doubleheader at the Manhattanville Baseball Field. Ryan Costa (Bayport, N.Y./Bayport Blue-Point) earned his second win of the season in the 11-6 finish to start the day. Logan Alberto (East Patchogue, N.Y./Bellport Senior) went 3-for-5 with three RBIs to carry his team to a 12-4 win to wrap the day.

The Valiants improve to 10-2 while the Bloodhounds fall to 1-13.

GAME ONE

Griffin White (Poughkeepsie, N.Y./Arlington) led the way in game one, going 2-for-2 with four RBIs, including a sacrifice fly. Marco Clara (Syosset, N.Y./Syosset) and Aidan Rosario (Greenwich, Conn./Greenwich) went 2-for-2 with two walks while Clara drove in two runs.

Costa went 4.0 innings to earn his second win of the season, recording three strikeouts. Kevin DeMilia (Briarcliff Manor, N.Y./Briarcliff) found his way to the mound for the fifth inning for his third appearance of the year before Max Krom (Southington, Conn./Southington) sealed the deal with 2.0 innings and two strikeouts.

FIRST INNING – MANHATTANVILLE 3, JOHN JAY 0

Jack Moeller (Mahopac, N.Y./Mahopac) sent Aidan Rossario home on a SAC bunt, throwing error by the pitcher. Clara and White both send home runners with a sacrifice fly to left field.

THIRD INNING – MANHATTANVILLE 8, JOHN JAY 2

Scott Ennist Jr. (Poughkeepsie, N.Y./Franklin Delano Roosevelt) got the third inning started, scoring Chris Goohs (Nesconset, N.Y./Smithtown H.S. East) from third. Moeller was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to extend the lead 6-0. White singled to right to send two home and push the score to 8-0.

John Jay scored two on an RBI single to right field.

FIFTH INNING – MANHATTANVILLE 11, JOHN JAY 4

Anthony Peterson (Hasbrouck Heights, N.J./Hasbrouck Heights) started the fifth with an RBI groundout. White singled to left field to score Moeller from third. Gregory Tashik (Midland Park, N.J./Midland Park Jr./Sr.) singled up the middle to score Marco Clara (Syosset, N.Y./Syosset).

The Bloodhounds scored two runs on two doubles.

SEVENTH INNING – MANHATTANVILLE 11, JOHN JAY 6

The home team extended its run total to six before the first game wrapped.

GAME TWO

Alberto went 3-for-5 with three RBIs and one run with one double to front the Valiants in game two. Anthony Peterson (Hasbrouck Heights, N.J./Hasbrouck Heights) went 2-for-3 with two runs and a double. Jacob Oakley (Medford, N.Y./Patchogue-Medford) fought for two hits, two runs, and two RBIs.

Jack Lally (Ogdensburg, N.J./Wallkill Valley) went 5.0 innings with seven strikeouts in 24 batters faced, allowing two runs on six hits. Aidan Tumbleson (Manalapan, N.J./Manalapan) finished the final two innings, allowing three hits, one earned run, and two strikeouts.

THIRD INNING – JOHN JAY 1, MANHATTANVILLE 0

The Bloodhounds scored first on an RBI single to left.

FIFTH INNING – MANHATTANVILLE 8, JOHN JAY 2

Aidan Rosario (Greenwich, Conn./Greenwich) and Alberto started the fifth with doubles into the outfield, scoring a combined five runs. Goohs reached first on an error by second base, scoring Alberto. Dylan Roberts (Warwick, R.I./Pilgrim) continued the doubles with a ball to left center to score Goohs. Oakley singled up the middle to score Peterson from third and wrap up the inning.

John Jay tallied one run on an RBI single.

SIXTH INNING – MANHATTANVILLE 8, JOHN JAY 3

The Bloodhounds singled to right center to score its third run of the game.

SEVENTH INNING – MANHATTANVILLE 12, JOHN JAY 4

Iazzetti grabbed two RBIs in the top of the seventh on a single to short. Evan Kaloski (Center Moriches, N.Y./Center Moriches) doubled to right to score Iazzetti before Alberto scored Kaloski for the final run of the game for the Valiants.

John Jay scored its final run with a double to left center.
