Baseball Overpowered By Ramapo

PURCHASE, N.Y. – Manhattanville baseball was overpowered by Ramapo, 11-3, in the single-game home matchup on Thursday afternoon. The Valiants (12-3) drop its first home game of the season while the Roadrunners (11-5) remain untouched on the road.

Anthony Peterson (Hasbrouck Heights, N.J./Hasbrouck Heights) went 2-for-4 with two singles while also stealing home on a wild pitch. Chris Goohs (Nesconset, N.Y./Smithtown H.S. East) sent a solo shot off the scoreboard in the bottom of the fifth inning to attempt to cut down the deficit.  
Ryan Costa (Bayport, N.Y./Bayport Blue-Point) started on the bump for the Valiants, allowing one hit and having three unearned runs cross the plate. The junior recorded his second loss of the year to even his record at t 2-2. Five other pitchers made appearances in the nine innings, with Daniel Glasso going the longest, facing 19 batters and allowing seven hits.

Ramapo got the game started with a long ball over the wall in dead center, scoring three.

Jack Moeller (Mahopac, N.Y./Mahopac) hustled home, reaching on a fielding error by third base.

The Roadrunners extended the lead with a sac fly to centerfield.
