Baseball Stunned by Late Runs from Stevens

PURCHASE, N.Y. – Manhattanville baseball took its fifth loss of the year, 17-6, against Stevens. The Ducks (12-11) scored 13 runs in the final four innings to overtake the Valiants (15-5).

 

Scott Ennist Jr. (Poughkeepsie, N.Y./Franklin Delano Roosevelt) had all three of the team's RBIs tonight, going 2-for-2 with one double. Gregory Tashik (Midland Park, N.J./Midland Park Jr./Sr.) went 2-for-4 with one run, while Chris Goohs (Nesconset, N.Y./Smithtown H.S. East) went 1-for-3 with a walk, two hit-by-pitches, and a stolen base.

Peter Lanausse Jr. (Hamilton, N.J./Hamilton West) started on the bump for the Vals, going 5.0 innings, allowing four runs on eight hits with three strikeouts. Vince Delgado (Yonkers, N.Y./Iona Prep) made his 2026 debut in his first colligate decision.

 

FIRST INNING – MANHATTANVILLE 2, STEVENS 1

The Ducks scored its first run on an RBI single into right field.

Tashik reached first base on a bobbled ball from the third baseman before finding his way around the bases due to wild pitches and stealing home on a passed ball. White hustled in on a wild pitch to put the Valiants in the lead.

 

SECOND INNING – MANHATTANVILLE 3, STEVENS 1

After finding himself in a rundown, the third baseman overthrew the ball, allowing Encarnacion to take home.

 

FOURTH INNING – MANHATTANVILLE 3, STEVENS 2

Stevens scored on an RBI single into right field.

 

FIFTH INNING – MANHATTANVILLE 5, STEVENS 4

The Ducks tied the game with an RBI single through the right side, followed by a hard-hit double to left center, and took the lead.

Ennist Jr. sent a hard hit ball to the warning track in left-center to clear the bases and put his team back on top.

 

SIXTH INNING – STEVENS 11, MANHATTANVILLE 5

Stevens took advantage of a fielding error by the third baseman to tie the game at five. The lead came from an RBI single. Three more runs tailed on with a home run over the centerfield wall.

The tenth run of the game was scored on a wild pitch. A groundout to the third baseman sent the final run of the inning home.

 

SEVENTH INNING – STEVENS 15, MANHATTANVILLE 6

A triple to left center scored the first run of the inning for the Ducks. A bases-loaded walk added one more to the board before a single through the left side scored two runs.

 

Ennist Jr. singled to right-center to score Chris Goohs (Nesconset, N.Y./Smithtown H.S. East).

 

EIGHTH INNING – STEVENS 16, MANHATTANVILLE 6

The Ducks filed out to the right for a sac fly to push the lead out by 10 runs.

 

NINGTH INNING – STEVENS 17, MANHATTANVILLE 6

The away team finished scoring with an RBI single through the right side.
