Men's Tennis Nearly Perfect in 7-0 Sweep of Mount Saint Vincent

PURCHASE, N.Y. – Opening the final week of the regular season, the Manhattanville University men's tennis team continued its triumphs through the Skyline Conference on Monday with a 7-0 blanking of Mount Saint Vincent. The Valiants dropped just one game across the nine flights, improving to 10-7 overall and remaining perfect in conference play at 6-0.

The Valiants made quick work to secure the doubles point as Sami Badre-Hume (Brooklyn, N.Y./Bay Ridge Prep) and John Curtin (Brewster, N.Y./Brewster) defeated D'Andre Carty and Jonah Jones 6-0 in No. 3s shortly before Kazuma Kato (Nerima, Tokyo, Japan/Aioi Gakuin) and Derwin Guzman (Bronx, N.Y./Frederick Douglass Academy) pitched their own shutout in No. 1s action against Luka Gelevski and Paul Simonet. Elouan Charretteur (Fontainebleau, France/Lycée International Francois Premier 1er) and Nicholas Gervasi (Melbourne, Victoria, Australia/Epsom College) came close to the third bagel, having to settle for a 6-1 win over David Hoagland and Brennan Sherman in the No. 2 flight.

The Valiants did not drop a single game point in solos, winning all six flights with 6-0, 6-0 finals. Kato handled business on the show court against Gelevski, with Charretteur picking up the win in No. 2s over Simonet. Guzman earned the victory over Hoagland in No. 3s while Gervasi took down Sherman in No. 4s. Badre-Hume and Curtin finished up the sweep, taking down Carty and Jones with the No. 5 and 6 flights, respectively.
