WEST CALDWELL, N.J. – The Manhattanville University men's tennis team opened the final week of the regular season with a sixth-consecutive win, blanking Yeshiva University on Wednesday night. The Valiants remain undefeated in the Skyline at 7-0 in conference play, one win away from a perfect conference regular season, and improving to 11-7 overall.
Elouan Charretteur (Fontainebleau, France/Lycée International Francois Premier 1er) and
Kazuma Kato (Nerima, Tokyo, Japan/Aioi Gakuin) posted a 6-0 shutout of Akiva Gelernter and Aidan Stephen in the top flight to set the tone of the night early.
Thomas Jouanneau (Luneville, France/Lycee Arago) and
Derwin Guzman (Bronx, N.Y./Frederick Douglass Academy) added a 6-1 victory in No. 2s to clinch the doubles point against Jacob Feit and Elan Goldstein, while
Nicholas Gervasi (Melbourne, Victoria, Australia/Epsom College) and
Sami Badre-Hume (Brooklyn, N.Y./Bay Ridge Prep) defeated Israel Bussu and Jack Radinsky 6-4 in No. 3 play.
In solos, Jouanneau defeated Feit 6-4, 6-1 on the show court. Kato took down Bussu 6-2, 6-4 in No. 2s, while Charretteur picked up the win in the No. 3 flight against Gelernter, 6-1, 6-2. Guzman knocked off Stephen in No. 4s, 6-4, 7-6 (6-2). In the final two tilts, it was Gervasi besting Ethan Rolnick (6-0, 6-4) and Badre-Hume winning against Goldstein (6-1, 6-2).
