PURCHASE, N.Y. – Manhattanville men's lacrosse wrapped up the regular season homestand with a triumphant 11-5 victory over Mount Saint Mary. The Valiants (5-8) even to 3-3 in conference play, while the Knights head into their final game of the season 4-10 (2-4 Skyline).
Nick Corace (Sayville, N.Y./Sayville) led the Valiants with three goals, the first one starting off the night as the sole goal in the first quarter. Tyler Berch (Syosset, N.Y./Syosset) recorded three points with two goals and one assist. Chris Marinaccio (Greenwich, Conn./Greenwich) was next in suit with one goal and one assist.
Anthony Cozza (West Harrison, N.Y./Byram Hills), Michael Karabinchak (Piscataway, N.J./Saint Joseph Metuchen), Dylan Foley (Northport, N.Y./Northport), Jack Roberts (Middlefield, CT/Lyman Hall), and Jake Stobel found their way to the back of the net, pushing out the Valiants' dominant lead. In addition to the goal, Roberts tallied on a caused turnover and four groundballs.
Tim Beahm (Toms River, N.J./Toms River North) and Francisco Rosas (Stratford, Conn./Stratford) caused four turnovers while leading the squad with groundballs seven and six sequentially. Chris Guazzo (Rye, N.Y./Rye High School) won five faceoffs while fighting through for five groundballs.
Joe Ulzheimer (Seaford, N.Y./Seaford) earned the win while recording 10 saves in his final outing at home during the regular season.
Both teams found their way to the scoreboard with the Valiants striking first, followed by the Knights converting after the next faceoff. Manhattanville shut down MSMC in the second quarter, adding on four goals while allowing just two shots on goal in the 15 minutes leading into the break.
The home team started off the second half with a Corace goal as MSMC found the back of the net less than 30 seconds later. Berch and Corace tallied two goals in the final 1:30 of the third period before the visitors added a goal as the horn went off to end the quarter.
The Knights put two goals on the board to begin the final 15 minutes. Foley, followed by Roberts and Marinaccio, secured the win for the Valiants, pushing the final score out to 11-5.
