Goohs Surpasses 100 Career Hits; Nine-run Sixth Lifts Baseball above Bard

PURCHASE, N.Y. – Chris Goohs (Nesconset, N.Y./Smithtown H.S. East) surpassed 100 career hits in baseball's comeback victory over Bard College, 15-7. The Valiants (17-6) used a nine-run sixth inning to best the Raptors (8-9) in the Tuesday afternoon single game.

Goohs fronted the offense through the nine innings, going 3-for-5 with a double and two singles, scoring two runs and sending in one. Scott Ennist Jr. (Poughkeepsie, N.Y./Franklin Delano Roosevelt) sat aside Goohs with three hits, including two RBIs and two runs scored.

Anthony Mezzaucella (New Rochelle, N.Y./New Rochelle) went 2-for-2 with two walks and two hit-by-pitches, getting the job done with both singles, sending home his teammates. Mezzaucella led his team with three RBIs.

Anthony Peterson (Hasbrouck Heights, N.J./Hasbrouck Heights) tied the game at seven, beginning the rally in the sixth, with a plopped ball out by the left field foul line that fell, giving him an RBI single.

Billy Anema (Midland Park, N.J./Midland Park) earned his first win on the pitch for the Valiants, entering the game in the fourth inning and going 3.0 innings. He struck out two, allowed three hits and walked two.
