GREENWOOD, Ind. – Following their individual successes in the classroom and on the diamond this past academic year, three Valiants from the Manhattanville University softball team—sophomore
Josie O'Leary (Pawling, N.Y./Pawling) and seniors
Cady Sickler (Kingston, N.Y./Kingston) and
Isabella Tansey (San Diego, Calif./University City)—were selected to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District® Team, as unveiled on Tuesday.
It is the first selection to the CSC Academic All-District® Team for all three Valiants. Tansey was further selected to advance to the Academic All-America® ballot.
To be eligible for selection to Academic All-District® Teams, student-athletes needed to hold both academic and athletic standing of sophomore or greater while earning a cumulative grade point average of a 3.50 or higher. From there, nominees needed to have played in 90 percent of their team's games or start in 66 percent, while pitchers needed to have made 17 appearances or threw a minimum of 35 innings.
O'Leary took the reigns as the Valiants' designated player in her sophomore season, playing in 45 of the team's 46 games while making the start in 39. The Pawling, New York native hit .416 on the season, the second-highest season-end average amongst the team, and garnered no shortage of accolades in her breakout campaign that saw her named to the Skyline All-Conference Second Team and the NFCA All-Region First Team. O'Leary scored 29 runs and drove in 27 as the Valiants' primary No. 2 batter in the lineup, legging out four doubles and a pair of triples. She further showed off her speed on the basepaths, swiping 25 bases, good for the third-highest single-season total in school history. O'Leary completed her second year of studies in pursuit of a degree in early childhood and childhood education.
The first of two senior honorees, Sickler earned her first Academic All-District® selection as the Valiants' starting center fielder for the year. Playing in a career-high 45 games with starts in all but one, Sickler had the best numbers of her collegiate career this season. The Kingston, New York product hit .350 at the dish with 41 base hits, driving in 29 and scoring 28 runs herself. Sickler hit eight doubles, a triple and a home run alongside eight steals, all of which marked new personal bests. As a result of her best collegiate season, Sickler earned All-Conference honors for the first time as a member of the Skyline Second Team. An education major, Sickler completed her undergraduate studies in the fall before beginning work on her master's degree this spring.
Tansey capped off a stellar career as one of just two players to start all 46 games of her senior campaign. The San Diego native was Manhattanville's left fielder in the 2026 campaign, hitting .381 on the year. Posting a .647 slugging percentage, Tansey had a team-best 19 doubles coupled with three triples and four home runs to the run of 39 RBI and 36 runs scored. She added 18 steals on the basepaths and played strong defense in the corner outfield, committing just one error on 48 chances in the field. Tansey became a four-time All-Conference selection this year, being named to the Skyline First team for a third-straight year.
Tansey's name appears on the Academic All-America® ballot, with voting open to CSC members from May 26 to June 2. The 2026 College Sports Communicators Softball Academic All-America® teams will be announced on June 16.
