MADISON, N.J. – The Manhattanville University men's soccer team battled FDU-Florham (0-0-1) to a 2-2 draw on Friday evening, which marked the Valiants' second consecutive tie to open the 2026 season. Manhattanville moves to a 0-0-2 record following the decision.
The Valiants delivered the first blow of the night by scoring first in the 20
th minute when
Koky Duarte (Cortlandt Manor, N.Y./Walter Panas) found the back of the net off an assist from
Alex Guevara (Cortlandt Manor, N.Y./Walter Panas), putting Manhattanville up 1-0. Less than two minutes later, FDU-Florham responded with a goal by Branden Ferreira.
In the 27
th minute,
Roberto Velasquez-Osorio (Monticello, N.Y./Monticello) scored to reclaim the 2-1 lead. The second-leading active goal scorer in NCAA Division III, Velasquez-Osorio notched career tally number 39 with the go-ahead strike.
Once again, the Devils wasted little time with an answer, scoring another goal in the 39th to send both teams into halftime even after a frantic opening 45 minutes.
Nickolas Pagan (Valley Stream, N.Y./Valley Stream North) helped Manhattanville carry the intensity into the second half by nearly delivering a third goal by firing an attempt that clanged off the left post. As the match wore on, both sides continued trading chances. Both teams finished with six shots in the second half, each putting a pair on target, but neither side could bury the tiebreaker.
Jesse James de Ruiter (Hoensbroek, the Netherlands/Eijkhagen Charlemagne College) remained strong in the net the second half, making a pair of saves to preserve the tie.
Coming off his game-tying heroics on Tuesday,
Alec Pineda (Yonkers, N.Y./Port Chester) matched Velasquez-Osorio's four total shot attempts to finish with the team lead.
