MAHWAH, N.J. – LaQuan Peterkin shot a perfect 11-for-11 from the field and led all scorers with 29 points as an extremely hot-shooting Ramapo squad took down Manhattanville by a 99-72 score in a non-conference men's basketball contest on Tuesday night at the Bradley Center.

It was a frustrating way to head into Thanksgiving break for Manhattanville, as the Valiant defense could not solve a potent Roadrunner offensive attack all game long. For the night, Ramapo shot a stellar 59.0 percent (36 for 61) from the field, including 18 for 27 (66.7 percent) in the final 20 minutes of play. The Valiants, meanwhile, connected on 42.9 percent (27 for 63) of their shots from the field but could not stay with the home team offensively.

Peterkin was a perfect example of this, as he did not miss an attempt from the field and also shot 7 of 10 from the charity stripe to end up with 29 points. Will Sanborn also had a good game for the Roadrunners, netting 22 points and leading all players with 10 rebounds. In total, Ramapo's five starters combined to score 76 of the team's 99 total points.

Manhattanville received 14 points each from senior Trevoy Pointer (Dallas, Texas/Skyline) and sophomore Jack Bramswig (Pleasantville, N.Y./Pleasantville). Bramswig also came up just one rebound short of his first career double-double by tying his career high with nine caroms. Seniors Felipe Vargas (Miami, Fla./Miami Christian) and Ivan Jovicic (Belgrade, Serbia/Sports HS Belgrade) added 10 points each for the visitors as well.

The game started well enough for Manhattanville on Tuesday night, as senior Jeff Ventura (Fort Lauderdale, Fla./Cypress Bay) drained a three to open the scoring and the visitors maintained a lead for the first five minutes. The offense ebbed and flowed in both directions for much of the frame, with the Valiants down just three with 1:44 remaining in the half before a quick 6-0 run to end the half put the Roadrunners up by nine (46-37) at the break.

The deficit was seven (59-52) with 13:27 to go in the second half after a pair of free throws by Vargas, but the game soon soured for Manhattanville as Ramapo went on a crushing 25-4 run over the next five minutes to take total control of the game. Peterkin led the team with eight points in the run, during which time the visitors went 0 for 7 from the field with five turnovers.

The Ramapo lead grew to as many as 33 with 2:23 remaining on a three-point play by Sanborn, but the Valiants at least scored eight of the game's final 10 points after that to bring the final margin down somewhat to 27.

Manhattanville (1-3) will take the Thanksgiving break off before starting up its Freedom Conference schedule next Wednesday at 8 p.m. against Eastern in a game that will be video streamed live on GoValiants.TV. Ramapo (4-1) will host Scranton on Monday at 7 p.m.
