PURCHASE, N.Y. –
Sophomore Will Sahakian (Natick, Mass./Rivers School) scored three goals but the Manhattanville men's lacrosse team dropped a heartbreaking 7-6 (OT) decision on a cloudy Senior Day to King's (Pa.) at GoValiants.com Field.

Sahakian's hat trick was matched by the Monarchs' Ryan Bullock, as the bisitors made a comeback after trailing 4-2. Senior Mike Strauss (Newark, Del./Wilmington Charter) finished his career at GoValiants.com Field with a pair of goals and an assist.  Freshman Brendan Kuntz (Ridgewood, N.J./Ridgewood) added a goal and an assist, but the hosts finished the contest being outshot 46-26.

Sophomore Dom Poletto (Engelwood, Colo./Regis Jesuit) made 15 saves, but ceded four consecutive goals in the third quarter that allowed the Monarchs to take a 6-4 lead. King's netminder Brendan McCrudden made five saves and allowed all six goals, including a man-down goal by Sahakian in the third quarter that gave the Valiants a two-goal edge with 12:44 remaining.

The Valiants allowed just one man-up goal and successfully killed off five others, but the game-tying goal by Bullock in the third quarter made it a 4-4 contest. Each squad scored single goals in the first and second quarter and went into the half tied at two. Strauss scored the first goal of the game with 12:44 remaining and the home team held a 1-0 lead for six more minutes until Bullock tied the game with 6:47 left.

In the second quarter, Rob Lane blasted a shot over the shoulder of Poletto with 6:03 remaining but Sahakian tied the game with just 23 seconds remaining in the half off a beautiful pass behind the net by Kuntz.

The Valiants added two quick goals to start the half on tallies by Kuntz and the man-down goal by Sahakian. Leading 4-2, the Monarchs scored four times with a pair of goals by Bullock and one each by Jason Merola and Lenny Fox.

With the Valiants trailing in the final quarter of regulation, Strauss and Sahakian tied the game with the only two goals of the fourth quarter.

The Monarchs ended the game with 2:56 remaining in overtime as Kiernan McMahon found Shane Russo.

Manhattanville (3-12, 1-9 MAC) will conclude the season on Saturday with a 1 p.m. start at MAC foe Lebanon Valley.
