CHESTER, Pa. – Whitney Bruemmer led all goal scorers with four tallies, as Widener University used the home field advantage to defeat the Manhattanville men's lacrosse team, 21-2, on Wednesday evening at Leslie C. Quick Jr. Stadium in Middle Atlantic Conference action.
Widener's John Casey finished with a game-high seven points on four assists and three goals, as nine members of the Pride's squad finished the contest with multiple points. For the Valiants, sophomore Bill Motherway (Kings Park, N.Y./Kings Park) and freshman Brian D'Iorio (Huntington, N.Y./Saint Anthony's) scored.
The Pride took a 9-0 lead after the first quarter until Motherway got the Valiants on the board. D'Iorio scored his ninth goal of the season in the third quarter, but the host finished the contest with a 69-12 advantage over the Valiants.
Sophomore Dom Poletto (Engelwood, Colo./Regis Jesuit) made 18 saves in the loss.
Manhattanville (2-7, 0-5 MAC) will host Lycoming College and former head coach Todd Hodgson on Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m. the contest will be broadcasted live on GoValiants.TV (weather permitting) at 12:50 p.m. Live stats will also be available on GoValiants.com.
