Box Score 1 CLERMONT, Fla. – Things did not get any easier for the Manhattanville softball team on day two of Spring Break at the NTC Spring Games, as the Valiants fell 17-0 in five innings to Washington University in St. Louis, ranked 23rd in Division III by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association, on Saturday at the National Training Center. The team's second game of the day against Macalester was postponed due to rain.
After two tough games yesterday, Manhattanville ran into a very capable foe in the nationally ranked Bears, who scored 17 times in just four frames to end the contest early. Washington got one run in the second inning on a passed ball, scored four more times in the third inning, and put the game away with 12 runs on just five hits in the bottom of the fourth frame.
Manhattanville managed just three hits of Washington's Kathy Peter, who struck out three in the complete-game shutout.
The Valiants will enjoy a day off tomorrow before returning to the field on Tuesday, when the team is scheduled to take on the University of Scranton at 5 p.m. and Fitchburg State College at 7 p.m.
