PURCHASE, N.Y. – Undefeated Wilkes was too much for the Manhattanville women's tennis team on Saturday afternoon, as the perennial conference power swept the Valiants by a 9-0 score in a Freedom Conference matchup at the Manhattanville Courts.

Four Colonels were double winners on the day, led by first-singles and first-doubles payer Melanie Nolt, who lost just one combined game in her two matches. Ally Kristofco, Alexis Donner and Ana English both won two matches as well for the Colonels, as no Valiant entry was able to take more than two games against their Wilkes counterparts.

“The Wilkes women are always a tough task and they are the conference leaders for a reason,” said head coach David Slater. “But I am encouraged that our team continues to get better and am happy to see that the level of commitment has never been higher. The girls did everything I asked today against a very good opponent.”

Manhattanville (2-7, 0-4 Freedom) is scheduled to return to action on Tuesday, as the Valiants finish up non-conference play at Ramapo beginning at 3:30 p.m. Wilkes (16-0, 4-0 Freedom) will travel to Scranton to complete its non-league schedule tomorrow starting at 1 p.m.
