WILKES-BARRE, Pa. – The Manhattanville women's tennis team had its 2011-12 season come to a close on Saturday, as a shorthanded Valiant squad fell to King's (Pa.) by a 9-0 score to King's (Pa.) in a Freedom Conference matchup at Kirby Park.
The day did not start well for the Valiants, as only four players were able to make the trip to Pennsylvania for the match. As a result, King's started the day with a three-point cushion before any match was contested.
Things got no better for the Valiants once play commenced, as King's easily won all four singles matches in straight sets and ceded a combined two games in the two doubles competitions.
Manhattanville completes its 2011-12 season with a 2-9 (0-5 Freedom) record. King's (7-12, 3-2 Freedom) will be the third seed in the Freedom Conference Tournament and will take on Misericordia on Wednesday in the semifinal round.
