Box Score PURCHASE, N.Y. – The Manhattanville men's lacrosse team got two goals each from seniors
Bill Motherway (Kings Park, N.Y./Kings Park) and
Will Sahakian (Natick, Mass./Rivers School), as well as 14 saves from classmate
Dom Poletto (Engelwood, Colo./Regis Jesuit), but it wasn't enough as the Valiants fell to the FDU-Florham Devils by the score of 12-6 on Tuesday evening on GoValiants.com Field.

Manhattanville took an early 1-0 lead as Sahakian netted his first of the contest just over a minute into the game as fellow senior
Peter Callahan (Fairfield, Conn./Salisbury School) fed him the ball to pick up the assist. FDU-Florham surged back with eight goals that spanned the game into the second quarter to take its largest lead of the game at 8-1.

The Valiants snapped the run as it was another pair of senior to connect on a play when Sahakian picked up his team-leading 17th assist of the year on a pass to classmate
Jordan Kolb (Sisters, Ore./Sisters) for his third tally of the season. Shortly thereafter the Devils regained a seven-goal edge as the score went to 9-2 on the board.

Motherway ended the half with his first goal of the game on an unassisted marker with 4:03 left in the second quarter. As the game made its way to halftime, the Valiants were outshot 27-17 through the first 30 minutes of play with turnovers fairly even at 8-7 in favor of the Devils.

In the second half, FDU-Florham scored first just under three minutes into the half to reach double-figures with 10 goals on the board.

Manhattanville answered back as Motherway picked up his second goal of the contest and team-leading 21st of the season. The Devils scored once more and took an 11-4 lead into the final period of play.

Sahakian picked up his second goal of the game after a short feed from the side of the cage by sophomore
Tom Tarczali (Stratford, Conn./Saint Joseph) to trim the lead to six, but FDU-Florham picked up its final goal of the contest with 8:52 left in the game to increase the lead to 12-5.

The Valiants scored once more in the waning minutes as Callahan picked up his seventh goal of the season, after dropping the ball then picked it back up along the endline. Callahan then circled around the crease and dove towards the front of the circle while sliding the ball into the back of the goal to cap off the scoring for Manhattanville at six.

Sixty minute totals favored the Devils as they outshot Manhattanville by a 50-34 clip on the season, the 34 shots was just two shy of Manhattanville's high-water mark of the season of 36, which was set in the game against Maritime on April 3. Groundballs and faceoffs also favored the Devils, while clears, turnovers and saves were relatively equal between the two sides.

In goal, Poletto took the loss after making 14 saves, and allowing the 12 FDU-Florham goals. The win went to Tim Zangara, who also played all 60 minutes and yielded just six Valiant goals while stopping 16 shots and picking up a pair of ground balls.

Manhattanville will play its season finale this Saturday, when the team hosts DeSales at 1 p.m. with live coverage of the game available on GoValiants.TV. Prior to the contest, Manhattanville will be honoring its seven departing seniors, who will be graduating next month.
