Men's Lacrosse Can't Find Offense Against Arcadia in 11-3 Loss

Men's lacrosse dropped its second consecutive Freedom Conference contest on Saturday afternoon.
Box Score GLENSIDE, Pa. – The Manhattanville men's lacrosse team lost its second straight Freedom Conference contest on Saturday afternoon, falling to Arcadia University by a final score of 11-3 at Easton Field.

Both Robert Palumbo and Joe Stanton scored three goals each for the Knights, leading Arcadia (5-4, 1-0 Freedom) past Manhattanville (0-11, 0-2 Freedom).  The Valiants kept the game close until midway through the second period as the Knights were able to pull away.

After one period of play, Arcadia controlled a 2-0 lead on goals from Stanton and Ryan Carpenter. Under a minute into the second quarter, Manhattanville scored its first goal when it was junior Jack Polak (Longmeadow, Mass./Longmeadow) finding the back of the net.  Unfortunately for the Valiants, the Knights eventually answered with four straight second-quarter goals, taking a 6-1 lead into halftime.

Arcadia came out firing in the second half, tallying four more goals in the third before freshman Andrew Murray (Yonkers, N.Y./Archbishop Stepinac) scored for Manhattanville, making it 10-2. Both teams found twine in the final quarter of play, including a goal from freshman Colin Morrissey (Shelton, Conn./St. Joseph) for the Valiants.

Freshman Ian Reill (East Rockaway, N.Y./East Rockaway) was again busy between the pipes for Manhattanville, turning aside 12 shots. The Valiants were out-shot by a 38-20 margin on the day.

The Valiants will finish up non-conference play on Wednesday when the Valiants travel to Bard for a 6:00 p.m. matchup.
