Box Score PURCHASE, N.Y. -- The Manhattanville College women's tennis team took on the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) Engineers Saturday Oct. 6, falling 9-0 at the Manhattanville Tennis Courts.
Eight of the nine matches were straight set wins for RPI; freshman
Renay Charley (Redondo Beach, Calif./Redondo Union) was the lone Valiant whose match went to a third set at first singles. Charley fell 1-6, 7-5, 10-3 to Tess Lubin of RPI.
Elsewhere,
Samantha Altman (Carmel, N.Y./Carmel) fell 6-1, 6-1 at third singles and fellow freshman
Ariel Abdul-Mateen (Brooklyn, N.Y./High School for Medical Professions) dropped a 6-0, 6-2 match at fourth singles.
The Valiants will have some time off before their next competition, the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Individual Championships in Edwardsville, Pa. Oct. 20-21.
