Box Score PURCHASE, N.Y. — On a windy afternoon at GoValiants.com Field, the Manhattanville College women's lacrosse team dropped their third consecutive game, falling at home to Stockton University by a score of 22-2 Saturday, March 23.
The Valiants were able to take an early lead, when sophomore midfielder
Melissa O'Mara (Huntington, N.Y./St. Anthony's) scored just over a minute in to give the Valiants a 1-0 lead. From there, Stockton was able to take control of the game, putting up 12 unanswered goals to end the first half with an 11 goal lead. Melanie Patterson lead the way for the Ospreys with three goals and one assist in the first 30 minutes, while three other players added two goals.
The visitors kept up the offense in the second half, with Abbey Yannacone scoring three straight goals to put the game out of reach. The Valiants were unable to come up with an answer for Stockton, with only
Lara Keenan (Montgomery, N.Y./Valley Central) getting on the scoreboard late in the second half for Manhattanville, dropping a 22-2 decision to fall to 3-3 on the season.
The Valiants return to action Wednesday, March 27, when they travel to Danbury, Conn. to take on Western Connecticut State University, with gametime scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
