PURCHASE, N.Y. – After a stellar regular season competing in three events, Rae Sawyer (Elmont, N.Y./Elmont Memorial) of the Manhattanville College women's cross-country team has been named the Skyline Conference Rookie of the Week, for the week ending Oct. 8.

Sawyer led the women's cross-country unit at the NJIT Highlander XC Challenge last weekend, the team's final regular season meet of the year. The rookie runner finished 100^th overall at the event out of 220 runners from 26 Division I, II, and III programs. She would finish the 5K clocking in at 23:16.1 with an average mile of 7:29.3. Sawyer's efforts helped the Valiants to a 20^th place team finish.

Sawyer and the Valiants will be back in action on Oct. 22 to compete in the Skyline Conference Championship at the Hudson Valley Sportsdome.
