Balanced Finish: Cross Country Teams Each Earn Sixth Overall

PURCHASE, N.Y. — The Manhattanville University cross country teams headed over to the neighbors for the Purchase College Invitational Saturday morning. The Valiant men and women finished 6th overall for the meet. 

The Women's 4000 M race opened the day in Purchase. Freshman Sam Delgado (New Rochelle, N.Y./New Rochelle) led the way for the Valiant runners, earning 40th with a time of 19:23.5. Sophomore Jennifer Oliveros (New Rochelle, N.Y./New Rochelle) trailed behind, finishing 19:42.3 to place 43rd. Senior Alicia Bibi (Marlborough, Mass./Marlborough) was the next to cross the line with a time of 21:24.1, earning 66th place, immediately followed by sophomore Adelina Rodriguez (Westbury, N.Y./Westbury), who secured her spot finishing 21:24.6 to place 67th. Freshman Kristen Mejia (Port Chester, N.Y./Port Chester) made her way across the line finishing with a time of 23:25.7 for 91st. The final two Valiants crossed on the women's side, with Lilly Savnik (Mastic, N.Y./William Floyd) earning 109th with a time of 25:02.5, with Saage Palmer (Brooklyn, N.Y./Medgar Evers College Preparatory School) following behind her with a time of 26:52.1, earning 118th overall.

The Valiant men took the course for the 6000 M race with eight runners crossing the line for Manhattanville. Leading the team was junior Joey DeMilio (White Plains, N.Y./White Plains) with a time of 22:23.7, earning 40th. Not long after, fellow junior Zach Garrant (Poughkeepsie, NY/Spackenkill High School) crossed the line finishing 23:05.3 for 53rd. Trailing behind was senior Daniel Baldessarre (Highland Mills, N.Y./Monroe Woodbury), who clocked a repetitive 23:23.3 for 57th. Freshman Danny Noia (Honolulu, Hawaii/McKinley) finished 74th, clocking 25:16.7 with junior Courtney Brown (Clarendon, Jamaica/Mount Vernon) following behind to earn 75th with a time of 25:30.6.  Freshman Khalil Williams (Menands, N.Y./Shaker) was next, finishing 31:56.5 and earning 121st. Sophomore Aka Udeagha (Rye, N.Y./Rye) closed out the Valiants, finishing less than two minutes later with a time of 33.26.7, earning 129th. 

Up Next: 

The Valiants will hit the road again next weekend, heading up to Montgomery, N.Y., to Twin Ponds on the Farm for the Jasper Fall XC Invite.
