POSTSEASON PREVIEW: Men's Volleyball Set to Take on Ramapo in Skyline Quarterfinals

PURCHASE, N.Y. – In their inaugural season, the Manhattanville University men's volleyball team will be making their first postseason appearance as they begin their quest for a conference championship. The sixth-seeded Valiants will take on the No. 3 Roadrunners of Ramapo College on Tuesday evening at 7 p.m.

How We Got Here

The Valiants earned a postseason berth after finishing 9-9 overall in Skyline Conference play, going 13-16 overall. St. Joseph's Long Island and New Jersey City secured the No. 1 and No. 2 seeds as both teams completed a stellar 17-1 season. No. 3 Ramapo followed closely behind with a 14-4 finish as Purchase and Mount Saint Vincent earned the next two spots with 11-7 and 10-8 records, respectively.
Manhattanville would go .500 on the season with conference victories over five separate opponents helping to land them in the sixth and final playoff position. They would cap off the regular season going 3-1 through the final week, winning a huge 3-2 match over Purchase then finally defeating Old Westbury and Sarah Lawrence in three-set sweeps.

Last Time Out

The teams last met in Kennedy Gym on Mar. 16 as the Valiants hosted their second tri-match of the season. The Roadrunners came out victorious with a three-set sweep (25-21, 25-20, 25-20) while hitting a solid .341 on the day. Manhattanville had nine kills in both the first and third set, while hitting a match-high 0.125 in the final set. Pedro Barros Machado (Vitoria da Conquista, Brazil/Colegio Oficina) and Emil Morban Medrano (San Cristobal, Republica Dominicana/HS for Environmental Studies) led the team with seven kills apiece as Idris Idris (Kassala, Sudan/JFK High School) totaled a team-high 16 assists and seven digs.
