PURCHASE, N.Y. – Officially marking the end of the winter sports seasons, Florence Harrison (Melbourne, Australia/Balwyn High School) of the Manhattanville University women's track & field team and Artem Mateichenko (Kharkov, Ukraine/New Hampshire Avalanche (EHL)) of the men's hockey team have been named Valiants of the Week, for the week ending Mar. 2.

Harrison had a great showing in the Valiants' final indoor meet of the 2024-25 season at last Friday's Fasttrack Last Chance Invitational at Ocean Breeze. Competing in the weight throw, the senior logged a distance of 8.96 meters. Not only was her throw a 1.60-meter improvement over her previous personal best, Harrison's outing marked the second-furthest throw in the program's history in the event.

Mateichenko closed out his collegiate career with two more points in the Valiants' UCHC Championship Tournament postseason run. The senior scored a goal and had an assist in Saturday's semifinals matchup against SUNY Geneseo. The assist—his program-leading 80^th of his career—erased a two-goal deficit for the Valiants while also making team history. The helper was Mateichenko's 100^th point of his career, becoming just the sixth player ever to reach the century mark.
