Men’s Tennis Swept by Farmingdale, 7-0

PURCHASE, N.Y. - The Manhattanville University men's tennis team took a hard fall against Farmingdale State College this afternoon. The Valiants suffered a 7-0 loss against the Rams bringing their overall record to 3-7 and their conference record to 0-3.

Manhattanville and Farmingdale took the courts this afternoon for the first time together this season. The last time these two met was in the Skyline Conference Championship match last season where the Rams took the match 5-4. Farmingdale continued to persevere over the Valiants as they added another win to their record from the match this afternoon.

While the Rams and Valiants opened the contest splitting the two playable matches, Farmingdale took the point as Manhattanville could not field the No. 3 flight. Mario Alcala (Madrid, Spain/Hoosac School) and Dylan Von Brook (Shirley, N.Y./William Floyd) took place on the No. 2 court. They were taken down by Ty Williams and Kwaku Agyeman, 6-0. In the top doubles action, Lev Uitterhoeve (Maastricht, The Netherlands/Porta Mosana College) and Derwin Guzman (Bronx, N.Y./Frederick Douglass Academy) earned a tiebreaker win over Ryan Hendel and Alan Sabovic, 7-6. The Valiant duo won the tiebreaker 7-5. With this win, the pair closed out doubles play with the Rams up, 1-0.

Farmingdale automatically took a 2-0 lead as Manhattanville could not field a player for No. 6 singles. Von Brook competed on the No. 4 court where he fell in straight games to Muhammad Sawar 6-0, 6-0. John Curtin (Brewster, N.Y./Brewster) took residency on the No. 5 court falling to Myles Freelin, 6-0, 6-1. The rams now lead the contest 4-0 with three singles matches remaining. Alcala finished next for the Valiants where he came up short against Vansh Aggarwal 6-2, 6-0. The top two courts were last to finish for Manhattanville with Guzman finishing next on the No. 2 flight. Guzman was defeated decisively by Zakaria Ahmed 6-0, 6-1. Uitterhoeve was the final contender of the day as he stumbled against Sabovic 6-3, 6-0. The Valiants lost in straight matches to the Rams overall, 7-0.
