PURCHASE, N.Y. – After wrapping up action for the first week of the season,
Emma Foster (Santa Barbara, Calif./San Marcos) and
Jori Wilkendorf (Livermore, Calif./Livermore) of the Manhattanville University softball team have been selected by the Skyline Conference as Player and Pitcher of the Week, for the week ending Mar. 15.
Foster opened her sophomore season on fire, hitting .429 with three extra base hits, six RBI and seven runs scored in Manhattanville's first eight games of 2026. After collecting a hit and drawing three walks in the Valiants' season-opening doubleheader at Stockton on Tuesday, she began to heat up down south in Maryland, opening the Margie Knight Classic with a three-hit, two run, one steal effort against Muhlenberg before adding a triple, an RBI and another run in the win over King's. She drove in three more on a pair of hits on Saturday against Carnegie Mellon and scored twice with two more hits in the win against NYU. Foster ended her weekend with three more hits Sunday, legging out doubles against NYU and Lynchburg, highlighted by two RBI, two runs and a steal in her second go-around against the Violets.
Wilkendorf stepped into the role of veteran arm in the circle to begin her junior year, firing 31 innings in her first week back on the field. She held a 1.58 ERA through a busy week of action, making four starts and two additional relief appearances. After solid outings against Stockton and Muhlenberg, she picked up her first win of the year on Friday against King's, firing five scoreless innings with just four hits allowed. She then earned two more wins on Saturday with two relief innings against Carnegie Mellon before a complete game effort against NYU, allowing one earned run across six innings. Wilkendorf went the distance again on Sunday with seven innings against Lynchburg, once again allowing just one earned run.
Foster, Wilkendorf and the rest of the Valiants pick play back up on Thursday, getting a first look at conference play against Yeshiva with a doubleheader in New Rochelle starting at 6 p.m.
