PURCHASE, N.Y. – Thomas Jouanneau (Luneville, France/Lycee Arago) and
Elouan Charretteur (Fontainebleau, France/Lycée International Francois Premier 1er) swept the Skyline Conference Men's Tennis Weekly Awards, the conference announced on Monday afternoon, with the duo being named Player and Rookie of the Week, respectively, for the week ending Mar. 29.
Jouanneau led the Valiants in their 2-0 week, winning a pair of matches in No. 1 Singles alongside a No. 1 and No. 2 Doubles victory. The grad student partnered with
Derwin Guzman (Bronx, N.Y./Frederick Douglass Academy) on Tuesday in Manhattanville's conference opener against Saint Joseph's Long Island for a 6-0 shutout win in the No. 2 flight before notching a 6-0, 6-0 No. 1 singles win against the Golden Eagles' top competition. He went on to team with Charretteur in Thursday's win over WestConn in No. 1 duos, winning 6-1, before handling business in the top solos flight, 6-0, 6-1.
Charretteur also dominated in his showings, winning both of his appearances in No. 1 Doubles with a pair of No. 3 Singles victories. Against SJLI, the freshman paired up with
Kazuma Kato (Nerima, Tokyo, Japan/Aioi Gakuin) for a 6-0 blanking of the Golden Eagles' leading tandem before winning 6-0, 6-1 in No. 3 Singles. After picking up the 6-1 doubles win with Jouanneau against WestConn, he cruised to victory in No. 3 singles, 6-1, 6-0.
Men's tennis returns to play tomorrow with an interdivision matchup, taking on Division II Saint Thomas Aquinas at 3 p.m.
