PURCHASE, N.Y. – The Skyline Conference released the men's tennis coaches' preseason poll earlier this afternoon, and Manhattanville finished in third place. The Valiants received 43 votes in total, taking two first-place nods.
Derwin Guzman (Bronx, N.Y./Frederick Douglass Academy) and
John Curtin (Brewster, N.Y./Brewster) return for the Valiants. During his Junior season, Guzman secured a pair of No. 6 singles victories against Merchant Marine (6-2,6-3) in the Skyline Semifinals and Farmingdale (6-2, 6-7, 6-2) in the Skyline Finals.
Curtin's freshman season was highlighted by a singles victory at Lehman 6-2, 6-2, as well as a doubles victory alongside Guzman 6-0.
The Manhattanville men's tennis program is entering the 2026 campaign with six of the eight student-athletes new to the squad. Graduate Student
Thomas Jouanneau (Luneville, France/Lycee Arago) joins the team after three years at Limestone University. During his first two matches on the singles court, Joeanneau took the two victories 5-7, 6-2, 1-0 and 6-1, 7-6.
The Valiants made six appearances in the fall and winter, with the sole victory coming in a 7-0 wipe against the University of Hartford. The spring is set to open at home on Wednesday, Mar 18, against UMass Boston at 3 PM.
