PURCHASE, N.Y. & LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Manhattanville University softball team received a number of accolades over the week highlighting the successes of the Valiant student-athletes for the week ending Apr. 13. Jori Wilkendorf (Livermore, Calif./Livermore) and Tahlia Smith (St. Helena, Calif./St. Helena) were named Skyline Conference Pitcher and Rookie of the Week, while Wilkendorf was joined by Cady Sickler (Kingston, N.Y./Kingston) on the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Weekly Top Performers.

Wilkendorf has now been recognized as Skyline Pitcher of the Week twice this season and nabs her second NFCA Top Performer recognition. Smith and Sickler earn their first honors of the year.

Wilkendorf posted a 1.24 ERA across her 17 innings of work last week, with opposing batters hitting just .119 against her in the circle. After taking a no-decision against John Jay on Wednesday, the junior shined over the weekend with 13 scoreless innings against Sarah Lawrence and Saint Joseph's Brooklyn. On Saturday against the Gryphons, Wilkendorf hurled her first solo no-hitter, striking out a season-high eight in her five inning complete game and was just one hit-by-pitch shy of a perfect game. For her encore on Sunday, Wilkendorf held the Bears to three hits and a walk in a complete game shutout, improving to 10-3 on the season with the win and dropping her ERA to 1.89.

Smith also dazzled in the circle with a 1.08 ERA over 13 innings. The rookie came on in relief of Wilkendorf in the game against John Jay, allowing just one earned run over her three innings. She went on to make starts in the backend of both doubleheaders against Sarah Lawrence and Saint Joseph's Brooklyn with a pair of one-hitters. Against the Gryphons, she struck out a season-high nine with just a walk and a hit surrendered, needing just 66 pitches for the complete game five-inning outing. A day later, she held the Bears to a run on a hit with seven more strikeouts to improve to 4-3.

Sickler hit .533 across the Valiants' five games, driving in seven runs and scoring three times. After drawing a walk on Wednesday against the Bloodhounds, she had a pair of hits in both of Saturday's games against the Gryphons, hitting a double and a home run with three RBI in the opener. Sickler continued to swing a hot bat through Sunday, adding a pair of hits in both games against the Bears and driving in three in the pair of wins.

Wilkendorf, Smith and Sickler kept up their winning ways in the new week, sweeping FDU-Florham and Sage on Tuesday and Wednesday to push the Valiants' winning streak up to eight straight. Manhattanville is back in action on Saturday at Purchase for a doubleheader starting at 11 a.m.
