4/20/2026 11:42:00 PM

PURCHASE, N.Y. – The Manhattanville University softball team swept the Skyline Conference weekly awards, for the week ending Apr. 19. Emma Foster (Santa Barbara, Calif./San Marcos) was selected as the conference's Player of the Week, while Tahlia Smith (St. Helena, Calif./St. Helena) was announced as bother Pitcher and Rookie of the Week.

Foster put up video game numbers at the plate and on the bases last week, hitting .714 in the six games. The sophomore outfielder scored 11 times as the Valiants' leadoff batter and drove in six, posting a .786 on-base percentage and a .750 slugging percentage. Not content with just reaching base, Foster also logged seven steals, highlighted on Saturday at Purchase with the first five-steal game in program history. After picking up a pair of hits with an RBI and three runs scored in Tuesday's sweep of FDU-Florham, Foster went 3-for-4 with three RBI and four more runs scored a day later in the two games against Sage. On Saturday, she added five more hits in six at-bats at Purchase, scoring four runs and driving in a pair.

Smith was just as impressive in the circle, going 3-0 in her 16 innings of work with a miniscule 0.44 ERA. The freshman struck out 23, allowing just one run over her three appearances. The young arm threw seven innings on Tuesday against FDU-Florham, holding the Devils to one run on five hits while striking out a season-high ten. On Wednesday, she fired a complete game one-hit shutout against Sage with seven more punchouts before ending the week with four innings against Purchase on Saturday, blanking the Panthers with six Ks and allowing just two hits.

Foster, Smith and the rest of the Valiants head to New Jersey on Wednesday to take on Stevens at 3 p.m.
