DOYLESTOWN, Pa. –
The Manhattanville men's soccer team clinched a top-three seed in the upcoming Freedom Conference Championship after defeating Delaware Valley by a score of 4-1 on Monday afternoon.

Manhattanville struck three times in the first half, the first goal came on a breakaway as junior Erick Olazabal (Milton, Ontario/Bishop Reding) passed the ball to his twin brother Eros Olazabal (Milton, Ontario/Bishop Reding) who put the ball in the back of the net to give the Valiants the 1-0 lead. For Eros it was his team leading 22nd of the season, and also tying the all-time single season points mark with 47.

Just over seven minutes later the brothers stuck again as Erick passed to Eros who hit a hard shot from point blank to put the Valiants up by two. Erick collected his third assist when he took a corner that was headed into the goal by junior defender Marco Blasetti (Yonkers, N.Y./Rye Country Day). The Valiants took their 3-0 lead into the halftime break and didn't look back.

After the intermission, another defender got in on the scoring action as senior Emil Sjoberg (Stockholm, Sweden/Tyreso Gymnasium) notched his third of the season off of a pass from Saturday's hero, freshman Yani Quinteros (Shirley, N.Y./William Floyd) at the 60:21 mark of the game. Graduate goalkeeper Jason Torres (Harrison, N.Y./Harrison) had his shutout snapped at the 75:51 point when he allowed a goal by the Aggies on a deflected shot.

The Valiants held onto the 4-1 lead for the remainder of the contest and got their fifth Freedom Conference win of the season. With the win the Valiants now have 15 points in the standings which is currently tied for first place with DeSales, the Valiants can fall no lower than 3rd place no matter what happens in the Freedom Conference finale on Saturday at King's (Pa.).

In goal, Torres collected his 11th win of the year by making six saves and allowing the one goal. Taking the loss for Delaware Valley was Chris Shaffer who also made six saves but allowed the four Valiant tallies in all 90 minutes of play.

In terms of shots the Valiants outshot their hosts by a 21-11 margin, including eight off the foot of Eros. Corner kicks were also in favor of the crimson and white with a 5-3 differential.
