MORRISTOWN, N.J. - The Manhattanville women's volleyball team earned its second tri-match sweep of the season on Saturday afternoon, as the Valiants swept the host Eagles, 3-0 (25-19, 25-22, 25-15), and then completed the sweep with a 3-1 (24-26, 25-15, 25-16, 25-10) victory over Rosemont in the second match of the day at St. Joseph's Hall.

In the first match of the day, Manhattanville used some opportunistic offense and solid defense to sweep Saint Elizabeth in three sets. Senior Ally Johnson (Branford, Conn./Branford) led the team with seven kills and one error on 13 attacks (.462 hitting), followed by classmate Damaris Morales (Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic/Colegio San Jose) with six kills and sophomore Susy Camaj (Lagrangeville, N.Y./Millbrook) with five and a .364 hitting percentage.

Defensively, Manhattanville had 45 digs in the three sets, led by senior Makana Gomes (Honolulu, Hawaii/'Iolani) with a team-high 11 and freshman Sam Delmer (Boise, Idaho/Eagle) with 10 digs.

In the second match of the day, Manhattanville came back from a close first-set defeat to take the next three in relatively easy fashion and take down Rosemont in four sets.

The Valiant offense was out in full force against the Ravens, as Manhattanville put down 51 kills and hit .328 as a team in the four-set victory. The 51 kills were the most by the Valiants in a match this year, while the hitting percentage was the second-highest of 2011.

Gomes had a stellar match for Manhattanville, as she led all players with 15 kills and a superb .591 hitting percentage, and also came just one dig away from a triple-double with her 15 assists and nine digs. Freshman Veronica Ferreiras (Rockville Centre, N.Y./Malverne) also had an excellent overall match with a season-high six kills to go with seven digs and a match-leading 24 assists and five service aces.

Morales also reached double figures in kills with 10 for the Valiants, while Johnson added eight kills and 10 digs and Delmer led all players with 19 digs.

Manhattanville (11-9) will return to Freedom Conference play on Wednesday night, as the Valiants travel to King's (Pa.) College for a 7 p.m. matchup.
