BRONX
, N.Y. – The Manhattanville men's tennis team had its brief two-match winning snapped by New York University on Sunday afternoon, as the Valiants were on the wrong end of a 9-0 score in a non-conference matchup at the Stadium Tennis Center at Mill Pond.

Going up against a very good Violet team, Manhattanville suffered its first shutout loss of the season. Junior Michael Capozzi (Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic/San Judas Tadeo) had a pair of winning streaks snapped against NYU, as he lost in singles play for the first time in 11 matches with a 6-1, 6-3 loss to Connor Witty at the top flight. He also lost for the first time in six first-doubles matches alongside freshman Gabriel Pinto (Quito, Ecuador/Colegio Internacional SEK-Ecuador), as the pair dropped a tough 8-5 match to Witty and Steven Wu.

Sophomore Andres Rivera also gave a good effort in his fifth-singles matchup with Matt Gross, as Rivera came up one break short in both sets in suffering a 6-4, 7-5 loss.

Manhattanville (6-3) will continue non-conference play on Tuesday afternoon, as the Valiants take on Hunter College starting at 3:30 p.m.
