NEW YORK, N.Y. – The Manhattanville men's tennis stepped out of conference play and had its three-match winning streak snapped on Wednesday night, as the Valiants fell by a 9-0 score to New York University.

The only match of the evening that was truly competitive came at first doubles, as seniors Michael Capozzi (Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic/San Judas Tadeo) and Dean Tahir (Yonkers, N.Y./Saunders) came up just one break short against Ting Yee Lau and William Smithline in a 9-7 defeat. The Valiants earned three games in the other two doubles flights combined.

The Valiants also struggled in singles play against the very competitive Violet squad, as no Manhattanville entry won more than two singles games.

Manhattanville (3-5) will get back to Freedom Conference action on Saturday afternoon, as the Valiants take on perennial nemesis Wilkes in a battle for first place beginning at 1 p.m. at the Manhattanville Courts. NYU (7-5) will return to action on Saturday against Ithaca beginning at noon.
