Box Score MADISON, N.J. – Down by two sets in the final match of the season, the Manhattanville women's volleyball team could have thrown in the towel. Instead, led by a record-breaking night from freshman Alissa Primavera (Brewster, N.Y./Brewster), the Valiants stormed back to stun FDU-Florham, 3-2 (25-27, 22-25, 25-23, 25-23, 15-13), in a Freedom Conference match on Wednesday night at the Ferguson Recreation Center.

With the dramatic victory, Manhattanville (17-15, 1-6 Freedom) earns its first conference win of the year and also clinches the program's first over-.500 record since the 2001 squad posted a 13-8 mark. The two-set comeback is also Manhattanville's first since pulling the trick against Bard on September 1, 2012 and the first time ever the Valiants have done so to a Freedom Conference opponent.

Primavera had a record-breaking match for the Valiants, destroying the program single-match kills record with 34 kills on .325 hitting, cruising past the previous record of 25 that she matched just four days ago versus Lehman. Primavera finished the season with 382 kills, nearly 100 more than the previous single-season record set last year. The previous single-season kills record holder, senior Susy Camaj (Lagrangeville, N.Y./Millbrook), also had a good match in her final appearance in a Valiant uniform, recording 17 kills and tying her career high with 23 digs.

Freshman Megan Quinabo (Pearl City, Hawaii/Kamehameha Schools-Kapalama) had a double-double of her own with 47 assists and 13 digs, with the 47 helpers good for fourth on the school's single-match list. On the year, Quinabo's 777 assists are second-best for a single season at Manhattanville. Junior Alyssa Casino (Rye Brook, N.Y./Maria Regina) also a great match defensively with a team-best 32 digs, placing her fourth on the school single-season list with 421 digs this year, while classmate Jillian Chittenden (Rye, N.Y./Rye) played a big role at the net with eight blocks (four solo, four assist).

The Valiants showed that it was not going to be an easy match for FDU even in dropping the first two sets, as the visitors spoiled six set points in the first frame before eventually succumbing. But the match turned in the third stanza, as following the 10th tie of the set Manhattanville scored four straight points to take an 18-14 lead and never gave up the advantage to keep the match alive. Primavera had seven kills and Casino had 12 digs by herself in the crucial set win.

The fourth set followed a similar path, as the visitors broke a tie at 10-all and then never allowed the Devils to get back to even and send the match to a fifth set. The Valiants used a 6-1 run to open a 10-7 edge in that final frame, but FDU came back to even the score at 11. Florham took a 13-12 lead on a Valiant attack error, but Primavera made up for the error with a big kill – her eighth of the shortened frame – to even the score at 13, and then two Devil attack errors handed Manhattanville the set and the match.

The match marks the final collegiate contest for Valiant seniors Camaj and Valerie Moss (Quito, Ecuador/Academia Cotopaxi). Camaj finishes her stellar career first in career kills (863) and sets played (424), second in aces (232) and 10th in career digs (859) in Manhattanville history.
