Box Score PURCHASE, N.Y. – The Manhattanville women's basketball team failed to close out Drew in their home opener on Saturday night and fell by a final score of 77-65.
 
Junior 
Alyson Caiazzo (Brooklyn, N.Y./St. Saviour) led the way for the Valiants by scoring a game-high 17 points to go with 14 rebounds for her third double-double of the season. Freshman 
Candice Scott-Mason (Trenton, N.J./Ewing) contributed 15 points while sophomore 
Ashley Raaf (Rockaway Beach, N.Y./Christ The King) finished with 11.
 
Manhattanville played strong off the opening tip-off and led by as many as eight with 11:30 to go in the first half.  Drew cut the lead down by going on a 7-0 run to pull within one with less than 10 minutes remaining. The last 10 minutes of the first half were played close as the Valiants went into halftime leading the Rangers 36-35.
 
The second half went back and forth as either team failed to control a lead. Scott-Mason played stellar in the opening minutes by scoring the first eight points in the second half for the Valiants. Manhattanville held it's biggest second half lead with 14:56 to go, 49-44.
 
Led by Erin Howard off the bench, the Rangers refused to back down. Howard contributed 17 points in 17 minutes of work to help Drew stay close.
 
With five minutes remaining, Drew held a one-point lead, 63-62. The Rangers rattled off a 9-0 run late in the game that pulled the game out of reach from the Valiants. Manhattanville tested Drew on the free throw line late but the Rangers knocked them down to remain unbeaten.
 
Manhattanville shot 44.6 percent (25-56) from the floor while Drew shot 36.5 percent (23-63). The Valiants fall to 0-4 on the season as they still look for their first victory.
