Box Score PURCHASE, N.Y. – With three players scoring in double figures, the Manhattanville women's basketball team dominated Wilkes on Saturday afternoon, beating the Colonels by a final score of 72-57 in Freedom Conference action inside Kennedy Gym.
Led by junior 
Bri Pabon (Newington, Conn./Newington) scoring a game-high 17 points while tallying four assists and six steals, the Valiants picked up their first Freedom Conference victory of the season to improve their overall record to 5-9 (1-3 Freedom).
Helping Pabon on the offensive end was the Valiants' sophomore duo of 
Ashley Raaf (Rockaway Beach, N.Y./Christ The King) and 
Ashley Franklin (New Haven, Conn./Hill Regional Career) scoring 16 and 14, respectively.  
Manhattanville came out firing from all cylinders after the opening tip-off, bouncing out to a 6-0 lead after Pabon knocked down a three-point basket with 17:06 left in the first half. The Valiants never trailed once against the Colonels.
The Valiants' guards wreaked havoc on Wilkes all afternoon by breaking down their defenders, getting inside the lane, and finding open shooters on the exterior. Manhattanville led by as many as 17 in the first half after Raaf knocked down a jumper, making it 28-11 Valiants with 7:15 to go before halftime.
The Colonels went on a bit of a spurt near the end of the first half, knocking down their deficit to Manhattanville by 11, as the Valiants took a 36-25 lead into halftime.
Wilkes started off the second half strong by scoring the first six points, cutting down the Valiants lead to five, 36-31, with 18:10 left to play. As both teams exchanged baskets in the next few possessions, it was evident that no team had the definitive edge in the opening moments of the second half.  
Manhattanville started to feel comfortable again after junior 
Alyson Caiazzo (Brooklyn, N.Y./St. Saviour) grabbed a defensive rebound and tossed an outlet pass up to Pabon for a fast-break layup, making it 44-35 with 15:50 left. After the layup by Pabon, Wilkes rattled off the next five points to pull the game within four for the Colonels, 44-40, but 
Pabon answered the Colonels rush by connecting on two straight three-pointers, pulling the game back to double-digits for the Valiants, 50-40, with 12:06 left. Pabon sparked a 10-0 run for Manhattanville, as the Valiants would never look back.
The Valiants led by as many as 18 points in the second half before running away with their first Freedom Conference victory of the year.
 
Manhattanville shot 42.2 percent (27-64) while the Colonels took the same amount of shots, shooting 31.3 percent (20-64).
