Box Score DOYLESTOWN, Pa. – Despite a big game by junior
Alyson Caiazzo (Brooklyn, N.Y./St. Saviour) tallying 18 points, 23 rebounds and four blocks, the women's basketball team fell short to Delaware Valley on Thursday night by a final score of 63-55 in Freedom Conference play.
Caiazzo's four rejections give her 103 total, moving her into second place on the all-time list for Manhattanville women's basketball blocks.
Joining Caiazzo in double-figures for the Valiants was sophomore
Ashley Raaf (Rockaway Beach, N.Y./Christ The King) and junior
Bri Pabon (Newington, Conn./Newington) by scoring 11 and 10, respectively.
For Delaware Valley, Brenna Coll and Eireann Anastasti each contributed a game-high 19 points, helping seal the fourth straight victory for the Aggies.
Off the opening tip-off, both teams were hungry for a Freedom Conference victory. The Valiants scored the first two points of the game when sophomore
Ashley Franklin (New Haven, Conn./Hill Regional Career) knocked down two free throws at the 18:43 mark. Delaware Valley had an answer to any Manhattanville attack all game.
After a steal and fastbreak layup by Pabon with 7:23 left in the first, the Valiants held a 17-12 lead by applying constant pressure and forcing turnovers on defense. The Aggies would soon answer by going on a 12-2 run, taking a 24-19 lead with 2:43 remaining in the first.
The Valiants fought back with five straight points, tying the game up after a Franklin trifecta, notching the game up at 24 with 2:05 left before halftime. Delaware Valley responded by scoring the last four points of the first half, taking a 28-24 lead into the locker rooms.
Manhattanville scored the first point of the second half after Raaf knocked down a free throw, bringing the game within three as 19:32 remained, 28-25. Both teams exchanged baskets on the next few possessions, making it hard for the Valiants to pull off a comeback.

Candice Scott-Mason (Trenton, N.J./Ewing), making it 30-27 with 18:29 left, the Aggies jumped out on a 9-2 run, taking a 10-point lead over the Valiants with 15:25 to go, 39-29.
The Valiants never backed down and saw life with a comeback in order. After a few made baskets by Raaf and Pabon, Manhattanville's deficit was only at two with 6:47 remaining, 46-44.
With every Manhattanville comeback, Delaware Valley had an answer to pull away. The Aggies were forced to make free throws down the stretch, answering 75 percent (18-24) of the time.
Manhattanville falls to 5-10 overall (1-4 Freedom) after the tough loss to third-place Delaware Valley. The Valiants shot 31.7 percent (20-63) from the floor while the Aggies shot 32.8 percent (22-67).
The Valiants will play next on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. inside Kennedy Gym against King's (Pa.). Former Valiant basketball players are also invited on Saturday for Manhattanville's annual alumni day, starting at 9:00 a.m. with the women's game.
