PURCHASE, N.Y. – After a conference championship weekend, the two recognized for Valiants of the Week were both recipients of awards during their respective sports.
SKYLINE CHAMPIONS – WOMEN'S TENNIS – JENIFER LALMAN
The standout freshman, Jenifer Lalman (Schenectady, N.Y./Schenectady), was at the heart of Manhattanville's Skyline Championship victory, leading the Valiants to a 4-2 win. Lalman and doubles partner Amaya Ortiz (Bronx, N.Y./High School for Health Professions and Human Services) set the tone early with a commanding 6-2 win at No. 1 doubles.
In singles play, Lalman battled through a tough three-set match, taking the opener 6-4 before dropping the second 2-6, then sealing the championship with a dominant 6-2 third set over Gisler. Her clutch performance earned her Skyline Conference Championship Most Outstanding Player honors, topping off an incredible fall campaign where the rookie went a perfect 12-0 in singles and remained unbeaten in doubles postseason play with Ortiz.
SKYLINE TOP-15 – MEN'S CROSS COUNTRY – JOEY DeMILIO
Joey DeMilio (White Plains, N.Y./White Plains) led the way for the Valiants in the men's 8K at the Skyline Conference Championship Meet, turning in another strong performance to earn All-Conference Second Team honors for the third year in a row. The White Plains native crossed the line in 28:11.3, securing a 13th-place finish, followed closely by teammate Zach Garrant (Poughkeepsie, NY/Spackenkill High School), who finished a second later in 14th.
