Lalman and Keena Nab Valiant of the Week Honors

9/22/2025 3:22:00 PM

PURCHASE, N.Y. – Kicking off the final full week of September, Jenifer Lalman (Schenectady, N.Y./Schenectady) of the Manhattanville University women's tennis team and Shannon Keena (Pearl River, N.Y./Pearl River) of Valiant field hockey have been named Valiants of the Week, for the week ending Sept. 21.

Lalman immediately made her presence known on Tuesday when the Valiants opened up the season with a conference tilt against Yeshiva. The rookie jumped right into top flight doubles, taking down the Maccabees' best alongside Amaya Ortiz (Bronx, N.Y./High School for Health Professions and Human Services), 6-4. Lalman also impressed in solos, winning on the No. 4 court 6-3, 6-2 as the Valiants got off to a 1-0 start to the year.

Manhattanville field hockey broke into the win column for the first two times this season, thanks in large part to Keena's performances. The junior scored three goals to move atop the team leaderboard as the Valiants went 2-1 in last week's action. Keena scored twice in Monday's triumph against Saint Joseph, once in regulation before netting the overtime winner for her first multi-goal and game-winning goal of her career. She followed that up on Saturday with the opening salvo of a 5-0 triumph over Anna Maria, credited with her second game-winner in as many victories.
