PURCHASE, N.Y. – After a perfect 8-0 season against the Skyline Conference and securing the No. 1 seed for the conference championship tournament, the Manhattanville University men's tennis team had three Valiants earn All-Conference accolades, highlighted by winning both Player and Rookie of the Year.
Thomas Jouanneau (Luneville, France/Lycee Arago) was voted the Skyline's Player of the Year and made it onto the All-Conference First Team alongside
Kazuma Kato (Nerima, Tokyo, Japan/Aioi Gakuin), while
Elouan Charretteur (Fontainebleau, France/Lycée International Francois Premier 1er) was named Rookie of the Year and represents the Valiants on the Second Team.
Jouanneau was Manhattanville's leading player all season long with an 11-6 overall record in singles across the top two flights while going 13-5 in doubles. The graduate transfer was a perfect 6-0 in solos and 7-0 in duos against the Skyline Conference, dropping just one set in singles against conference foes. Jouanneau enters the postseason winner of six straight in both singles and doubles and went 10-5 overall in No. 1 singles while posting a 1-1 mark in No. 2s. In doubles, he went 7-4 in the top flight while going 6-1 when representing the Valiants in No. 2 duos. Jouanneau was named Skyline Player of the Week three times during the season.
Charretteur played primarily in No. 3 singles during the regular season and bounced between the top two doubles flights. The freshman went 12-7 overall in singles and posted a 12-6 mark in doubles, also going undefeated in conference play (8-0 singles, 7-0 doubles). Charretteur had his best success in No. 3 singles, going 9-2 during the year while winning his lone No. 1 draw and posting a 2-5 mark in No. 2s. In doubles, he went 8-4 in the top pairing while posting a 4-2 mark in No. 2s. Charretteur was thrice selected Skyline Rookie of the Week.
Kato was a mainstay in the top two flights for the Valiants in singles, going 10-2 overall. He posted a matching record in doubles across No. 1s and No. 2s and went 7-0 against the Skyline in both solos and duos. Kato went 2-1 in his three tilts on the show court in singles while truly shining in the No. 2 slot, going 8-1. In doubles, he posted an 8-2 mark against the oppositions' top pairings while going 2-0 in the No. 2 slot.
The Valiants have a first round bye in the Skyline Conference Championship Tournament and will play in the semifinal round on Wednesday against the winner of Yeshiva and Purchase.
